Raynor Naturopathic Massage Therapist
Ty Francis, PhD
I am a fully-qualified, accredited and insured Raynor Naturopathic Massage specialist. I completed my Level 3 Diploma in 2022 and gained my Advanced Practitioner’s Diploma in 2023, being personally trained by Brandon Raynor himself (pictured opposite - that’s Brandon on the left and me on the right). I’m also qualified in Myofascial Cupping.
I work from my home in Penylan, offering deep-tissue naturopathic massage in the Cardiff area.
I’ve taken an unorthodox route towards becoming a deep-tissue massage therapist…
I have a PhD in Psychology; I am a Gestalt-trained executive coach; and a specialist in a group therapy process called ‘Constellations’. In different ways, these diverse influences have a common focus on looking at the body holistically, and on seeing what ‘hidden dynamics’ might hold us back from achieving our potential. These are important perspectives that I include in my massage work.
What originally ignited my interest in massage were two experiences (of emotional and physical healing) that changed the course of my professional work. A few years ago, I was trying to recover from repeated injuries while training for a marathon. I found a wonderfully skilled masseur whose passion for his work inspired me to look more closely at what was happening in my body biomechanically. But my first-ever experience of receiving massage was at The Esalen Institute in California, in 2010. I had an unexpected and profound sense of complete peace and ‘oneness’ while being massaged. It was surprising and emotionally very moving…
“I’ve tried various kinds of massage but this was different. Ty worked on my belly and used chopsticks on my fingers and toes to target tiny tension points. He also worked on tension in my face and in my belly. I was really surprised by the results - after a couple of sessions, pain in my shoulder that had been there for years was gone.”
